Every year I choose a word or phrase or quote to act as my theme for the New Year. For 2017, the quote is a wish and a goal, and the quote is from Osho.
“Don’t move the way fear makes you move.
Move the way love makes you move.
Move the way joy makes you move.”
This truly expresses my wish every day – that we can all live happily in our bodies and minds, and experience the world and our lives with love and joy. So often we become distracted, confused, and worried by events, both within and without.
Pilates is one of many methods we can use to refocus and return to ourselves. Joseph Pilates invites us to “Return To Life” with his method of movement, and it’s an invitation that can be accepted every day.
To return to life we must return to ourselves. But if we have not returned in a while then it may feel more like a discovery, or an education. At its heart, however, Pilates is always a return to what your body and mind truly are.
The meaning of Kensho is to Know Your Self. And by turning toward this we come to the place where we move with love and joy. By using this method we can remember that the most important, lasting relationship we have is with ourselves.
Or, as Eckhart Tolle eloquently states:
“The power is in you. The answer is in you. And you are the answer to all your searches. You are the goal. You are the answer. It’s never outside.”
So my wish for you in 2017 is for you to Know Your Self so you can move with joy and love!
